The breakfast is great at the Gran Hotel Durango. There is a wide choice of bread, cheese and cold cuts. Breakfast is in a room next to the restaurant overlooking the pool.
At half past 10 we drive to Salamanca.
The GPS first sends us on a narrow road through the mountains, sometimes with sharp turns
and steep slopes, but that is all going well and it is a beautiful road.
Then we return to highways, quite boring, because Spain is bare and dry.
We arrive in Salamanca at about three o'clock, and after some wrong roundabouts we find our
hotel, the Hotel Soho Boutique Canalejas.
The hotel is on a narrow street, quite dark.
The hall is modern, so is the room, but there is room for improvement.
The laminate is very badly laid, also in the hallway, and the furniture shows obvious traces
of use; the bathroom is again very modern and tidy.
We are going to see Salamanca, we are a 5-minute walk from the center. The center, largely pedestrian, is full of churches and terraces. The Plaza Mayor in particular is impressive. Both the churches and the squares give an impression of the power and money of the church in the past.
We have a drink on a terrace, it is not expensive, and then we go back to the hotel because all the restaurants are still closed. At half past seven we leave again, and sit down at Casa Paca. The food tastes good, but it's not cheap, and they don't serve tapas in the restaurant.
We have forgotten the meter reading.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
